Community Connections completes adoptions for children in the custody of DFACS.
Children with special needs for adoption in Georgia include:- A child who has been in the care of a public or private agency or individual other than the legal or biological parent for more than 24 consecutive months
- A child who is a member of a sibling group of two or more placed together in the same home
- A child with a physical, mental or emotional disability, as validated by a licensed physician or psychologist

Steps to become a Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Parent
- Attend Orientation
- Complete Pre-Service training
- Participate in Home Study

Orientation and Pre-Service Training
Those interested in adoption will begin by completing an orientation and pre-service training class. The pre-service training class is designed for both foster and adoptive parents and allows participants to determine what type of child(ren) will best suit their family.
Orientations are held each month for prospective foster and adoptive parents to further describe the services offered by Community Connections. Requirements - How to become an adoptive parent- Live in the Metro-Atlanta area
- Be at least 25 years of age and at least 10 years older than the child you wish to adopt
- Be financially self supportive
- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete a medical evaluation
- Provide references
