
Foster Care
Requirements for Foster Parents:- Live in the Metro-Atlanta area
- Are at least 21 years of age
- Are financially self supportive
- Complete a free, required 23 hour pre-service training class
- Participate in a detailed home study to identify type of child(ren) selecting to serve
- All ages (newborns-teenagers)
- Boys and girls
- Children in need of foster or adoptive placements
- Sibling groups
- Children with emotional and behavioral needs
- Children with medically fragile needs
- 24 hour on-call professional support
- Crisis support services
- Home visits
- Respite services
- Interagency referrals as needed for community resources
- Ongoing trainings for foster parents to maintain state licensure
- Annual events to support and appreciate Foster Parents
Those interested in foster care will begin by completing an orientation and pre-service training class. The pre-service training class is designed for both foster and adoptive parents and allows participants to determine what type of child(ren) will best suit their family.
